Anna Holland has a wonderful life that she’s worked hard for. She’s got an amazing job, a beautiful apartment, and a relationship with a really nice guy. But something is missing. Add to the fact that she’s consistently dreaming about a gorgeous woman whom she’s never met. Then that woman shows up at her office and her carefully ordered world is thrown for a loop.
They start an exquisite journey of self-discovery and wonder if there’s more to their chance meeting. The unfathomable connection between them would suggest so.
Writing
From the first page, Alyson Root grabbed my attention and took me on quite the journey. Anna and Sam’s story begins during university with a chance encounter neither can forget. This encounter changed both of their lives forever, however, neither realized the extent until over a decade later. Alyson Root does a wonderful job not only creating our two main characters, but also chronicling their journeys of self-discovery, acceptance, and growth. I find it interesting that Sam and Anna don’t actually have many scenes together in this book, but their fated love is what seals their deal when they finally get together.
Pros And My Favourite Parts
Character development and relationships are two highlights of this story. Most of the story centers around Sam and Anna’s evolution separately as without their individual growth, they could never become a couple. Also, their chance meetings throughout time add a whimsical tone to their story. When Sam and Anna finally are ready for one another, their chemistry is off the charts. Alyson Root definitely turns up the steam factor!
Sam’s relationship with her friend Charlie is integral to her character development. Charlie’s honesty, support, and love for Sam help her put things into perspective and that letter she leaves really packs a punch! Sam’s mom is not only supportive but provides that little bit of levity Sam needs during some tough times.
Anna’s coming out is handled with care and her acceptance by her family and friends is wonderful. Her relationship with Kim is extremely important for her because Kim is not only her personal assistant but also her best friend who she relies heavily on for support and advice.

A Dance Towards Forever is an emotional tale about two women whose chance encounter changes the trajectory of both of their lives forever without either of them even realizing it. Later, dreams and several brief glances at one another only add to their deep connection. Their journey to happiness is filled with growth, honesty, resilience, acceptance, and trust. Both the main and supporting characters are not only dynamic but relatable. If you’re looking for a well-written story with a ton of character development and a side of steam, then I highly recommend giving this one a whirl.

As they rounded the corner, Anna almost tripped over her own feet. The woman she could see walking towards her with all sorts of paperwork and equipment looked exactly like the woman in her dream, the beautiful stranger.
Her breath caught, she was momentarily stunned. Anna diverted her gaze, not wanting to be caught staring. As she looked away, she could have sworn the woman stared back at her. James, however, hadn’t seen her at all. He went barrelling into her, causing her to drop everything she was holding. Without bothering to check if she was okay, James continued on as if nothing had happened.
Anna couldn’t quite believe what she was seeing. The woman who was now scrabbling around on the floor trying to pick up her belongings was stunning, just as Anna had remembered her. But how was that even possible?
Anna stopped, with the intention of going back to help, but she found herself staring at the goddess again, unable to move. James, however, wasn’t messing around. He grabbed Anna by the arm and marched her out of the station. Her perfect stranger was now lost in the crowd.
