Two to Tangle by Melissa BraydenTwo to Tangle by Melissa Brayden is a melt in your mouth romance.

Gabriella Russo is the head chef at Tangle Valley’s latest restaurant, Tangled. Or she will be, as soon as the renovations are complete. She has a great group of friends and after a cross country move, she’s not looking for romance.

Ryan Jacks is the carpenter whose job it is to make Tangled a reality. Put simply, Ryan is a player, and everyone in Tangle Valley knows it. The truth, she’s waiting for someone to spark her interest.

With a three-month deadline for the Tangled opening, Gabriella and Ryan find themselves working together a lot. Is there something more between them than the casual flirting on the job? If there is, can they find a way to keep it together with interferences from Gabriella’s friends, Ryan’s lovers, and the Biddies who know all the Tangle Valley gossip?

Pros And My Favourite Parts

I could go on about the pros of this book for a long time, but I’ll try to restrain myself.

Books with food are one of my favorite tropes, so how could I pass up an opportunity like this one? Brayden does not disappoint. There are plenty of mouth-watering descriptions of food and drink that are swoon worthy on their own. Combined with the coziness of a small town setting, I wanted to just curl up and stay in Tangle Valley for a while (lucky for me, there are still two books in the series I haven’t read).

Melissa Sternenberg did a lovely job with the narration. There is so much personality and charm added to the characters in the audio version.

Cons And Heads Up

None.

The Conclusion

This was the perfect read for me right now. I’ve really been gravitating to the cozier reads and listens like this one. I loved it from start to finish. If you’re a romance lover, it’s a great audiobook. Just make sure you’ve got plenty of delicious treats on hand or you’ll be jealous of anyone who gets to taste Gabriella’s cooking.

“Ryan Jacks.”

Something about the way Gabriella stated her name had Ryan’s full attention. She blinked and remembered her purpose. “Yeah, and you’re Gabriella. Good to see you again. I’m just here to take some more measurements,” she said, indicating her laptop and tape measure. “Already covered the big stuff. This will be for some of the minor nooks and crannies in the space. That okay? I don’t want to get in your way.”

“More than okay,” Gabriella said, beaming. Her smile was infectious in all its vibrancy. Genuine, too. “I’m ready to turn this building into a living, breathing establishment. Joey estimated three months.”

Ryan hesitated. Time estimates were hard, especially given how many variables were out of her control. There could be discoveries along the way that added time, or worse, stop their work altogether. Sometimes subs didn’t show up or turned in work that had to be redone by her, or the weather didn’t cooperate. Generally, Ryan did her best to help manage the client’s expectations. “That’s the goal, and I emphasize goal. Construction sometimes has a mind of its own. I’ve got my best people lined up, though, so we’re in good shape.”

“I’ll pay you a million dollars in ravioli to have this place ready to open by early summer.”

Ryan met what were definitely hazel eyes. Striking ones. Her cheeks felt hot. “You don’t have a million dollars in ravioli.”

“I could get it.”

Okay, that made her laugh. She liked Gabriella’s spunk. This woman was going to be fun to work with. “All right, but I’m holding you to it. So is Dale.” Her dog stood up as if to agree.

“Dale can already have all the food he wants from my pan. That’s a given.”

Ryan winced. “He’s a pig. Don’t go there.”

“Too late,” Gabriella said, stroking his chin. “He’s my buddy and he’s gonna make sure you finish. In under three months.”
