Boss of Her by Anna Stone is an age-gap, ice queen, workplace, BDSM romance that will have your pulse racing.

Jade Fisher is hard-working, driven, and focused on her career. So, when her friend drags her to opening night of LA’s hottest new sapphic night club she can’t help thinking she should be home getting ready for her new job interview. Jade wants to succeed and working for formidable businesswoman Simone Weiss will give her a step up the ladder. Yet while at the club she meets a commanding older woman who unleashes desires she never knew she had.

Simone Weiss is the Queen of LA. She’s worked hard to build a business that sees her reign over the hotel scene in LA. CEO of her company and co-owner of Club Velvet ensures she is kept busy. Yet when she meets a curvaceous dark-haired stranger on Club Velvet’s opening night, she wants nothing more than to forget the outside world and play.

When said stranger turns out to be her new temporary assistant the lines between professional and pleasure quickly become blurred. Both Jade and Simone have past hurts that hang over them, so surely, they can just work hard and play harder without getting too involved. Or can they? As they get closer it quickly becomes apparent that it’s more than lust, and desire that draws them to each other. With Jade kneeling at her feet Simone feels something that she’s never allowed before. Can love break down the walls both women have built to protect themselves or is it better to walk away?

Writing

You can always rely on Stone to transport you into a world of seduction, dark desires, and play. She sets the BDSM scene so perfectly, builds anticipation, and allows the reader to experience things you may never have dreamed of.

The characters in this story have complex backstories and I really enjoyed how the author revealed them slowly throughout the book. The reader gets to know the characters as they get to know each other. It’s beautiful and helps the characters to be more relatable.

Pros And My Favourite Parts

Boss of Her is paced perfectly. What I love about this author is that she never keeps you waiting for the action (so to speak) to start. Yet, she still manages to build all that delicious tension between the characters.

Simone and Jade both have things in their past that prevent them from opening up their hearts to love. But despite that, they are pulled to each other like magnets.

Jade wants nothing more than to submit to Simone’s every command. Until meeting her she didn’t even realise being a sub was something she desired. She has closed her heart to protect herself after previously being hurt but her body betrays her when it comes to Simone, and she can’t help but give in. Jade hangs on her every request or command whether that be in the office or while they play. It’s intoxicating to witness how raw Jade’s desire to belong to Simone is.

Simone has never allowed herself to fall in love, and until she meets Jade she has succeeded. Jade opens something in Simone that she never felt before. The need to protect, command, and have her come undone outweighs anything else in her life. Simone needs Jade to be hers. Simone is an ice queen, she has all the qualities, but like most ice queens she doesn’t melt for Jade slowly, it’s instant. The way she looks after Jade is beautiful, it took my breath away to see such a formidable woman become a puddle for love.

This pair has things to work through before they can admit that what is a purely physical relationship is something deep, meaningful, and dare I say it, true love. They complete each other in all aspects of their lives. Even with the power imbalance in their working relationship, and the fact that Jade is new to BDSM, Simone and Jade are equals. Simone is so patient and respectful while helping Jade discover what she likes, she has an instinct with Jade that lets her guide her down a path to become the submissive she longs to be. It may take them a hot minute to figure it out, but when they do it is stunningly romantic and swoony.

The Sub/Dom dynamics between Simone and Jade is one of the more all-consuming, alluring, and bewitching that I’ve read. I got lost in the feelings flowing between this couple and felt like I was witnessing something wonderful and special *happy sighs.

Heads Up

Coercive behavior is discussed in a past relationship.

The Conclusion

Boss of Her is an enticing BDSM romance that will have your pulse racing and your heart soaring. It has a formidable Dom ice queen who is a puddle for love, and a sweet submissive who is more than she seems. Both Simone and Jade are competent businesswomen and my oh my is that delicious. Not only are they compatible in their physical relationship, but they connect on an intellectual level, it’s sexy as hell.

I couldn’t put this book down. It’s sexy, beautiful, has great characters, and filled my heart with joy. Simone and Jade’s relationship might seem like it’s unbalanced, but once you get to know them it quickly becomes apparent that they are equals. The way they are drawn to one another is intoxicating. Simone won my heart with how she cared for Jade and helped guide her through her thoughts and experiences. Jade is new to BDSM and she couldn’t have found a better person to trust, it was wonderful to witness.

Another great book from Stone to help you get lost in the naughty, enticing world of BDSM.

Excerpt from Boss of Her by Anna Stone

Renee glanced around furtively. “So, I might have forgotten to mention that this isn’t just a ladies-only club. It’s a ladies-only BDSM club.”

And just like that, everything fell into place. Renee telling her to keep an open mind. All the documents they’d had to sign just to set foot inside. The woman at the door in a leather catsuit. No, she wasn’t sporting some hot new fashion trend Jade was unaware of. Neither was anyone else in the club.

“How could you not tell me something like that?” Jade hissed.

Renee shrugged. “I knew you wouldn’t come if I did.”

“Yeah, and you were right about that.”

“Well, you’re here already, so…”

Jade held up her hands, palms out. “No. No way.”

“Come on,” Renee said. “We waited in line for so long to get in. You might as well stay.”

“And what? Watch people have sex?”

“That’s not what this place is about. This isn’t a sex club. Kink isn’t just sex, it’s—” Renee sighed. “Look, this is just the opening night party. It’s about drumming up buzz and giving people a taste of what the club has to offer. There’s no sex allowed. Not tonight, anyway.”

Jade eyed two women making out in the corner nearby. One had the other pinned against the wall, her hand creeping up the other woman’s thigh underneath her skirt.

“Maybe those two didn’t get the message,” Renee said.

Jade shook her head. “Why do you want me to stay, anyway? Why do you even want to be here?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

Jade blinked. “You mean, you’re into this kind of thing?”

“Well, yeah. It’s the real reason I wanted to come here tonight.”

“Oh. I guess I didn’t know that about you.”

“Look, I know this probably isn’t your thing. You’re not the most adventurous, or the most experienced.”

Jade scowled. She didn’t need Renee to remind her of that.

“But aren’t you even a little curious?”

Jade looked around the room. Was she curious about all this?

“You don’t have to answer that,” Renee said. “Even if you aren’t interested, will you at least stay a little while? You know, keep me company?”

Jade studied Renee’s face. Was this her friend’s way of telling her she was nervous about being here alone? Renee would never admit something like that.

And maybe she had a point. Maybe Jade was a bit high-strung. Maybe she did need to have some fun.

Maybe she was a little curious.

“What the hell,” Jade said. “I’ll stay.”

Renee smiled. “Great. Who knows, you might meet someone. Get a little action.”

Jade rolled her eyes. “I don’t think so.”

“Come on, isn’t it time you got laid?”

“I’m not as inexperienced as you think.”

“Uh-huh. Do you have a secret girlfriend you never told me about?”

Not exactly. But Jade didn’t want to think about her now. Or ever again.

“Like I said, just keep an open mind.” Renee plucked two glasses of champagne from a passing server. “Here, a drink will help.”

She handed a glass to Jade. Jade sipped it slowly, looking around the room. “I can’t believe how many people are here. Who knew so many women were interested in, well, you know.”

“Are you kidding? I can’t remember the last time I slept with a woman who didn’t beg me to tie her up or spank her. But I have a type.”

Warmth crept up Jade’s face. She was used to Renee’s uncensored comments about her sex life, but they still made her blush.

“It’s about time we got a club like this in LA,” Renee said. “I heard it was started by a bunch of rich lesbians to give women a place of our own to have fun and express ourselves. I can’t wait to check out The Playroom.”

“What’s that?” Jade asked.

Renee grinned. “You’ll see. Come on.”
