The Club Revisited by A.L. BrooksThe Club Revisited by A.L. Brooks is a smokin’ hot trip back to The Club, a women’s only bar in Manchester where patrons can meet to engage in sex, or placate their voyeuristic side and simply watch others partake in the pleasures of the flesh. It is the intimately woven erotica/romance sequel to The Club but with mostly new characters, it can be read as a standalone.

The Club was established by Mandy as a much needed place where women could meet for safe and relatively anonymous sexual hookups. It’s creation fulfilled a long held dream of hers and filled a gap in the community. Divided into three rooms of varying degrees of sexual play, each marked by a different colour, the Club provides a space where women can explore and fulfill their deepest desires. Provided they follow the rules of engagement of course.

The Green Room is a great place for Lindsey, who has come out later in life, to build her experience and a regular is more than happy to show her the ropes. It is also where two best friends, Jody and Kris, finally find the courage to move on and go after what they really want. The Blue Room is about penetration and where Caitlin can finally push past the shame an ex girlfriend made her feel for her desires. The Red Room is the BDSM room and may be just what Joanna and Suzanne need to regain the spark in their marriage.

Business is booming for Mandy but when a woman from her past shows up and reignites an old flame, will she be able to tear herself away from the club to seize her own romantic encounter?

Pros And My Favourite Parts

I love the structure of this book and that of its predecessor. It is comprised of sexy vignettes, all centered around the club but with different characters and themes. This allows for several scintillating scenes that are fresh and engaging while providing a little taste of something to satisfy every level of desire. It never gets boring, and even with the plethora of characters, none of them feel flat.

This book is high on the sexy Scoville chart but there are a lot of bonuses to the spiciness which I loved as well. There are no judgements pertaining to kinks, ages, body types, situations, or anything really. The book celebrates sex, acknowledges its many possible iterations, and encourages those seeking it to do so on their terms.

Also, Mandy is apparently a marketing genius with a superior ad placement strategy, and I admire an astute businesswoman!

Cons And Heads Up

This is erotica, so prepare for some colourful language. There is also light BDSM depicted though I wouldn’t say this book delves too far into the hardcore. While the Red Room section briefly describes a scene of whipping, it focuses more on D/s interactions. I do wrestle with my own bias here as I have difficulty imagining strangers engaging in this type of relationship. Thankfully, the couple that is exploring this dynamic are already established, making it far more plausible for me.

Also, I nearly spontaneously combusted on the subway…

The Conclusion

This book is the perfect combination of sizzling heat and emotional fulfillment. I highly recommend you read it, but unless you have a better poker face than I do and a bucket of ice handy, maybe not while on the subway.

Excerpt from The Club Revisited by A.L. Brooks

Mandy stood in the middle of the Green room and inhaled deeply. Her heart raced, but she understood why — this view just couldn’t get old. Nor could her pride at what she’d achieved here.

But it was almost opening time for the night, and she couldn’t stand here wallowing in emotion.

She gazed around her club’s main room, running a critical eye over every detail. The room was spotless; minutes earlier she’d inspected every nook and cranny and found nothing awry. Chairs and stools had been positioned in a seemingly random pattern against the walls, but there was still plenty of room for people to stand if they preferred. The centre bar, like every item of furniture, was clean but also sanitized with its stools lined up like regimental soldiers.

She frowned. That seemed almost too perfect. People needed to feel comfortable here if they were going to consider taking their clothes off. She walked over to the bar and rearranged a couple of the tall stools, leaving them at slight angles to each other. Better.

The Blue Room was next and passed her usual inspection with flying colors, as did the Red Room, where the cross was polished to a deep shine and the leather on the spanking benches gleamed in the full lights she currently had switched on. Thank God for the well-paid but extremely discreet cleaning company. Over the past eighteen months or so that the club had been open, she’d never found fault with their work, and their prices were worth it.

She walked back towards the room’s bar and over to the control panel to dim the lights to their standard, sultry evening setting, glancing back into the room once she’d done so. Perfect.
