Pros And My Favourite Parts
Moody uses jumps back and forth in time to reveal the original love story and then the current rekindling of the romance. It’s a cool technique and it worked well in this book.
Cons And Heads Up
I spent the first few chapters being confused. I haven’t read the first book and didn’t know who many of the characters were. It’s a large cast and became overwhelming. I suspect this is not an issue if you have already read the first book.
The Conclusion
I like the concept of the story and the romance felt sweet and real with genuine moments of chemistry.
I would have tightened the plot by getting rid of some of the story that felt like it told the same thing, but I am an impatient reader and don’t like quite this much detail. But if you enjoy books where you can settle into the world and live through every moment of it then this is exactly the right book for you.
It’s a gentle and sweet read and it features 50+ main characters getting a second chance at romance, found family and it has the bonus of being set on a very cool lake resort. If that sounds like your jam then this is your next read.

“We can grill burgers and hot dogs and eat on the deck,” said Krista.
“Just like we did at your parents’ house,” said Jennifer excitedly.
“You remember that?” Krista asked, surprised.
“Of course we do. Your parents were so much fun. They had that cool swing set in the back yard and your mom went to the city pool with us,” said Stephanie.
“It was like having another set of grandparents,” Jennifer said, laughing.
“I can’t believe you remember that.”
“I told you. That summer was special. What I remember most is love. We were so loved,” said Stephanie.
“Yeah and to think, we didn’t want to come in the first place,” Jennifer said, chuckling. “And when we met you that very first day and you took us riding in that golf cart, we knew everything was going to be all right.”
“Oh you did not!” exclaimed Krista.
“Yes we did!” Stephanie and Jennifer said together.
“Besides, they’re our memories,” said Stephanie, protectively.
Krista shook her head and chuckled. “Okay, okay.” She looked at Melanie. “I’ll call Julia and see if she and Heidi can come. She supposedly was busy tomorrow so I had to help out here. I’m beginning to think she was fooling me.” She turned to the kids and said, “What do y’all think? Was she teasing me?”
They all laughed. “She was.” Ava giggled. “I heard her when we checked in.”
“I’m not going to be mad at her because y’all are the best surprise EVER!” she said, grinning at Mason.
“Yeah we are!” he agreed.
“How about I come get you in the morning and I’ll teach you how to paddle board. The boats won’t be ready until tomorrow afternoon. I’ll teach you to ski then.”
“Yes!” the kids said, jumping up and down.
“That sounds perfect,” said Heather.
“Okay then. It’s kind of late. Y’all had better get to bed so you’ll be ready for tomorrow.”
“Good idea. Come on kids,” Heather said, leading them inside.
“I’ll see you in the morning,” Jennifer said, hugging Krista and following the kids.
Stephanie hugged her. “I’m so glad to see you.”
“I’m happy you’re here.”
She smiled and joined the others.
Melanie looked carefully at Krista. “Are you happy?” Melanie asked.
“What?”
“Are you happy we’re here?”
