The Island Between Us by Wendy HudsonThe Island Between Us by Wendy Hudson is a captivating second chance romance and adventure novel that highlights how important hard work, determination and teamwork really is when people are trying their best to survive in the midst of difficult and unpredictable circumstances.

Georgia Hamilton was born to roam the world. She has spent most of her life exploring far-away places and now she has returned to her homeland, Scotland. Georgia teaches her survival skills course on a remote island that’s just a few miles away from Scotland.

Kelsey Campbell is an actress in her personal and professional life. She has finally come to terms with the fact that she’s been unhappy for a long time because she is fed up with trying to please everyone except herself. So, Kelsey decides to run away from the flashing cameras and the never ending social media updates and she signs up for a two-week survival course.

Even though the island is off the beaten track, that wasn’t the only thing that appealed to Kelsey. She met Georgia twenty years ago and she has always regretted how they parted ways.

Sometimes the best made plans go terribly wrong. Just as Georgia and Kelsey are rekindling their undeniable attraction and connection to each other, a huge storm hits and they are left stranded on the island. The entire group’s safety and survival rests upon Georgia’s shoulders and they have to do everything in their power to find a way home.

Will Kelsey and Georgia find a way to be together despite the fact that they come from two different worlds? More importantly, will the group be able to find a way home before it is too late?

Pros And My Favourite Parts

Ever since I’d read Four Steps, I became a huge fan of Wendy Hudson’s books. This story is definitely a compelling read and it is filled with adventure, survival, romance and people versus nature scenarios and I couldn’t get enough of it because I live for stories like this literary gem! I really enjoyed the realistic and well written descriptions about foraging for food in an untamed landscape, building shelters, making camp fires and other survivalist skills. I’m a huge sucker for second chance romances and this story ticked every box on my romantic checklist because my heart melted as I watched Kelsey and Georgia reconnect and fall deeply in love with each other after twenty years of longing for a do-over of the first time they met. This author owes me two nights of solid sleep to make up for the all-night reading marathons I did when I was caught up in this awesome story!

Cons And Heads Up

This story contains moderate descriptions of a character who was purposely poisoned and a near drowning incident.

The Conclusion

aprils favourite booksI would highly recommend The Island Between Us to anyone who is willing to go on a wild romp through a secluded island with ten unforgettable characters. Plus, this epic page-turner has one of the best happily-ever-afters that I’ve ever read!

Excerpt from The Island Between Us by Wendy Hudson

Kelsey seemed a little more at ease. “Seems you know what you’re doing.”

“I’d hope so after these many years.” Georgia stretched her legs before her and raised her arms and faced the sky. She sensed Kelsey watching her and wondered if this was the moment to confess that she remembered their New Year’s Eve together.

“You haven’t changed much.”

Georgia dropped her arms. “You do remember me then?”

Kelsey looked a little sheepish. “Sorry I didn’t mention it before. Wait…” She turned to face Georgia properly. “You recognized me as well? Why didn’t you say anything?”

Georgia shrugged. “Given the circumstances that night, I didn’t think you’d want me to bring it up in front of the others. Then it was obvious you were here to get away from your real life, so I wasn’t sure if you’d appreciate talking about it at all. And how embarrassing would it be if you didn’t remember me?”

“Are you kidding me?” She gently prodded Georgia’s shoulder. “That night was worth remembering for the hot chocolate alone.”

Georgia laughed and their gazes held, and it didn’t feel as if anything more needed to be said. Being strangers on a beach had clearly stuck in Kelsey’s memory, and it warmed Georgia to know she wasn’t the only one who held it in a special place. Georgia still had questions, but they had plenty of time to talk about it more if Kelsey was willing.

“C’mon.” She got up and reached her hands out. Kelsey took them without question and Georgia pulled her up so they were face to face.

Georgia lightly kept hold of Kelsey’s hands. “It’s lovely to finally know your name.”

Kelsey looked coy. “I should have told you it. Back then.”

“It doesn’t matter.” Georgia smiled and squeezed her fingers reassuringly. “It’s really good to see you again.”
