How to Find the Best FF Romance Books: Article

Welcome to TLR’s guide on how to find the best ff romance books! I am Sheena and I will be your tour guide today as I show you the website that is specially built to help you find your next read.

When you are looking for your next sapphic romance read you are spoilt for choice. We have diversity, tons of tropes and even books with or without heat. This is great for folks who have tons of time to search for that ultimate read but busy souls need a curated list.

That’s where the awesomeness of TLR comes in. We read hundreds of books every year and tell you our thoughts. We only review books we liked so if we have reviewed it then you are already a step closer to finding a good read.

Still, hundreds of books are a lot of books to search through. So we have put in place a range of tools that can help you narrow down your search.

1 We have categories

These range from the most beloved tropes, genres and types of characters commonly found in women-loving-women (wlw) romance.

The most popular are Ice Queens – the icy woman in charge who expects perfection and will let no one past her defences, except maybe that one special person.

Also popular is the workplace romance trope. What’s better than finding love at the place where you work?

Second-chance romances are also pretty darn cool. You were in love and something happened that thwarted your romantic plans. Now you get another chance and that person who still owns your heart is just a step away.

And let’s not forget the fake relationship theme where love blooms while they are pretending to be a couple. This one gets my own heart fluttering and that moment when they realise that their feelings are not fake anymore. That is my favourite moment.

There are many more tropes – you can see them all on our Find Your Next Read page under the romance tab.

Tip: You can also search for books you enjoyed to see if we have reviewed them. On each review is a list of all the categories that a book fits into. Click on one of those categories at the top of the review and you will see more books in each one.

We also use categories to show you how much explicit stuff happens in each book so if you specifically want steamy ff romance books then look for ones that are tagged as hot.

2 We have favourite badges

The favourite badge indicates that a reviewer loves the book enough to want to read it repeatedly. These are generally well-written, interesting stories with great characters that really resonated with the reviewer.

We also use these badges to put books into special categories.

One favourite badge puts a book into the Highly Recommended category.

When the book gets two favourite badges then it goes into our Best of the Best Category.

When an almost impossible feat occurs and four reviewers give a book a favourite badge then it pushes the book into our Hall of Fame. Only around one percent of books we review ever get into the Hall of Fame.

And the most exclusive category on The Lesbian Review is our Legendary category. That is when it gets six favourite badges. So far very few books have received this honour.

Tip: If a review didn’t get a favourite badge then it doesn’t mean that the book isn’t good. We only review books we enjoyed so if we reviewed it then it’s worth looking at.

3 We keep it fresh

We regularly add new reviews and have a weekly newsletter that is curated to share the best of our content with you. So you can be sure that you never run out of stuff to read.

4 Books to try if you liked this one

And if that didn’t give you enough ways to find the best romance books then we have another way for you. Your reviews have a section at the end – if you enjoyed this book then try this other book. As an example, if you loved the Written in the Stars book series and read our review of Count Your Lucky Stars then you will see at the end of the review we recommend Delilah Green Doesn’t Care for folks who are looking for a similar read.

This means that you can look for books that you enjoyed and see what else we think you may like. It’s like a curated reading list.

5 Join our communities

We have communities all over social media, from Discord to Twitter and even a Facebook group. These are sapphic book-loving and reading folks from all over the world gathered in one place so come and chat, pick their brains and generally get talking about all the awesomeness that is all about lesbian and bisexual women getting together.

Next time  you ask yourself how you find the best romance books about sapphic women, your answer is simply to come to the website with a dedicated team of reviewers doing the hard lifting for you, while also giving you advanced search features to make it easy to narrow down what you want to read next.
