Silent Night by Lily Seabrooke is a completely adorable f/f Christmas novella.

Brooke Carston is heading home to Mountain Crossing for the holidays. It’s her first extended visit to the small town in years and Brooke is looking forward to recharging and spending time with her family, away from the limelight.

When she runs into her childhood best friend, Nicole Livingston, it’s like no time has passed. Except that now, they have a ton of chemistry and the whole town seems to be conspiring to get them together. But Nicole’s life is in Mountain Crossing and Brooke’s career as a country-pop star is in Charlotte. Maybe they can figure it out under some mistletoe?

I loved nearly everything about this book and it all comes down to two things.

The small town setting was a home run for me. Mountain Crossing sounds so quaint and lovely that I want to visit, and the townsfolk are high-grade meddlers (especially Nicole and Brooke’s mothers). Meddlesome side characters don’t always work for me, but I loved and embraced it as part of the Christmas cheese here.

The friends-to-lovers aspect of the romance was also perfect, because Silent Night has my favourite sub-category: the friends who should be together and everyone knows it but them. Because they’ve known each other for all of their lives, I was immediately able to believe the deep connection between them.

My only issue is that the book sometimes relies too much on pronouns. The story is told in the first person, alternating between Brooke and Nicole’s perspectives. And while I didn’t mind that their voices are indistinguishable, since they’re noted as being “two peas in a pod,” it was a problem when pages would go by with only “I” and “she” alongside dialogue. This meant I sometimes had to flip back to remember who was narrating.

I made the mistake of picking up Silent Night at bedtime, thinking I’d just read for ten minutes and then go to sleep. Boy howdy, was I ever wrong about that, because I finished the whole thing that night.

If Hallmark is looking for its next f/f holiday film, they can look no further because Silent Night would be a perfect choice. It’s cute, it’s sexy, and I absolutely loved it. I’ll be reading this one year after year!

When you use the links in this review and buy within 24 hours of clicking then we get a small commission that helps us run the site and it costs you nothing extra

ASIN number: B09KS3LXZM

Publisher: Indie author

Pros And My Favourite Parts
